A fifth grade student in Florida was arrested over the weekend and charged with sending a text message threatening to hold out a mass taking pictures, authorities mentioned.

In a press release Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office mentioned it had learned earlier that day of a "threatening textual content message" sent by a student at an elementary school.

It said its local school threat enforcement group was immediately notified and started investigating. The 10-year-old boy was interviewed and charged later with "making a written risk to conduct a mass taking pictures," the sheriff's office said.

In video shared by authorities, the boy may be seen being led into a police automobile.

“This scholar’s behavior is sickening, particularly after the latest tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said in a statement, noting that the risk came simply days after the deadly faculty shooting at Robb Elementary School left 19 students and two academics dead.

“Right now just isn't the time to behave like just a little delinquent. It’s not humorous,” he said. “This baby made a faux threat, and now he’s experiencing real consequences.”

Marceno stated his group “didn’t hesitate one second...NOT ONE SECOND,” to research the incident.

The remark came as authorities in Uvalde face mounting criticism over their response to the Might 24 school shooting after it came to light that they waited roughly an hour for backup instead of immediately transferring in on the gunman.
