A fifth grade scholar in Florida was arrested over the weekend and charged with sending a text message threatening to hold out a mass capturing, authorities stated.

In a press release Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Workplace said it had realized earlier that day of a "threatening text message" sent by a student at an elementary school.

It mentioned its local faculty menace enforcement team was immediately notified and started investigating. The ten-year-old boy was interviewed and charged later with "making a written risk to conduct a mass shooting," the sheriff's office said.

In video shared by authorities, the boy can be seen being led right into a police car.

“This pupil’s habits is sickening, particularly after the current tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno stated in a press release, noting that the menace came just days after the lethal faculty taking pictures at Robb Elementary Faculty left 19 students and two teachers lifeless.

“Right now isn't the time to act like just a little delinquent. It’s not humorous,” he said. “This little one made a fake menace, and now he’s experiencing real consequences.”

Marceno mentioned his crew “didn’t hesitate one second...NOT ONE SECOND,” to investigate the incident.

The remark came as authorities in Uvalde face mounting criticism over their response to the May 24 school capturing after it came to gentle that they waited roughly an hour for backup as an alternative of immediately shifting in on the gunman.
