Arlington police stated Duff Elementary Faculty was positioned on lockdown for a time Thursday after a parent with a concealed weapon had his gun by accident go off, hitting the guardian within the leg.
ARLINGTON, Texas - Arlington police mentioned Duff Elementary Faculty was placed on lockdown for a time Thursday after a mum or dad with a hid weapon had his gun by accident go off, hitting the dad or mum within the leg.
The school had early release and students were released at the planned time of 12:10 p.m.
According to police, the mum or dad, identified as 55-year-old Anthony White, dropped his gun and accidentally shot himself. His damage was not serious.
The college district mentioned White was contained in the constructing, near the lobby space, and never in the hallway near college students when the gun went off.
Police and school officers said there was no menace made and the father or mother didn't have "malicious intent."

No students or staff have been injured. The dad or mum was taken to an space hospital after being shot in the leg.
Arlington Police Chief Al Jones mentioned after White was released from the hospital, he was arrested and charged with illegal carrying of a weapon in prohibited places and discharge of a firearm in sure municipalities.
Within the two days because the Uvalde mass school shooting, there have been 5 cases in North Texas associated to weapons introduced to varsities or threats made.

Arlington parents mentioned their minds instantly considered the worst once they were notified.
No father or mother ever needs there to be a motive for them to get a textual content message saying their kid's faculty is on lockdown.
But since this week's lethal capturing at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, they cannot assist but think the worst after they do.
"Once I acquired the textual content message, I used to be like, ‘Oh my God, something is going to happen.’ I was shocked," mum or dad Karima Rasheed mentioned.
While most instances, lockdowns are only drills college students have to take part in, Rasheed's son, Rami, mentioned that understanding what occurred earlier this week made this lockdown completely different.
"I began seeing my classmates starting to cry and our teacher got a notification on their telephone saying somebody was within the constructing," he mentioned.
Guns should not allowed on college property, and fogeys FOX 4 spoke with mentioned even if it was a mistake, the timing is simply horrible.
"What are we going to do? They must go to school, and obviously, statistically, it is unlikely to occur, but you never wish to be the one statistic. What if it's your kids?" Matthew Mitchell stated.
Mitchell lives across the street from Duff Elementary. His daughters go to a different Arlington school.
"I’m terrified, completely terrified. I’ve acquired twin six-year-olds that go to a unique Arlington school and every time I hear there is a lockdown or a school shooting, my coronary heart jumps into my throat," he mentioned.
Rasheed stated Thursday was the commencement day for 6th grade college students at Duff Elementary.
Whereas driving her son to high school in the morning, she had a talk with him about Uvalde and what to do if something ever occurred at his school.
"If something happened, you’ve got to run anyplace that’s secure and conceal," she informed her child.
While some say the incident in Uvalde is simply too contemporary to talk politics, Mitchell said something needs to be executed now.
"They want to speak about it, they wish to campaign on it, they need to fundraiser on it, but they don’t wish to actually go any legal guidelines and do something," he added.
