BERKELEY, Calif. - A 16-year-old boy was arrested after recruiting others to participate in a mass school capturing that would have included a bombing at Berkeley High College, police say. 

The teenager was arrested Monday, when he turned himself in to police, Berkeley Police Division said in a press launch. Monday was Memorial Day and there was no school that day. 

The boy was arrested on suspicion of possessing harmful system supplies and threatening to commit against the law which is able to lead to demise or great bodily harm.

Police stated they obtained a tip on Saturday that the boy was recruiting others in plans of a capturing that included explosives. Following the tip, police obtained and executed a search warrant for a residence. 

Police didn't say if the teen was a student at Berkeley High School.

Upon executing the search warrant, police mentioned they found components to explosives and assault rifles, several knives, and electronic objects that may very well be used to create extra weapons. 

At that point, a warrant was obtained for the teenager's arrest.

"School security remains a high precedence for the department," police mentioned in an announcement. 

Details on whom the teenager was trying to recruit were not disclosed. Police said this case remains under investigation. 

Berkeley Unified Supt. Brent Stephens told the college's neighborhood that the district was in shut contact with police during this investigation. 

After police confiscated the teenager's weapon elements, the district relied on police expertise to assess any potential ongoing danger to its faculties. The district communicated with police on the coed's whereabouts. 

"As added precautions during this period, we alerted our administrative and security workers about this investigation and, as is our standard observe, maintained close contact with our BPD College Resource Officer on the Berkeley Excessive College campus," Stephens wrote. "All through the investigation interval, we had been assured that this particular person didn't pose a direct risk to the Berkeley High School community."

The district is conducting their very own investigation on this matter. 

The district could pursue disciplinary motion in opposition to the coed. 

In addition, a city hall assembly titled: 'Learn how to Speak to Children About Faculty Violence' provided by Alameda County Workplace of Training is scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m.
