Talking in the dugout of the Nice American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler stated, "I do not plan on coming out for the anthem going forward till I really feel higher in regards to the course of our country."

"I am not okay with the state of this country. I want I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I want that I might have demonstrated what I realized from my dad, that if you're dissatisfied together with your nation, you let it be recognized by way of protest. The house of the brave should encourage this."

"When are we going to do one thing? I am drained. I'm so uninterested in getting up right here and offering condolences to the devastated families which are on the market ... I am tired of the moments of silence. Enough."
