ARLINGTON, Texas - Arlington police said Duff Elementary School was positioned on lockdown for a time Thursday after a mum or dad with a hid weapon had his gun unintentionally go off, hitting the dad or mum in the leg.

In accordance with police, the mum or dad, recognized as 55-year-old Anthony White, dropped his gun and unintentionally shot himself. His injury was not severe.

Arlington Police Chief Al Jones said after White was launched from the hospital, he was arrested and charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon in prohibited places and discharge of a firearm in sure municipalities.

In the two days because the Uvalde mass college capturing, there have been five instances in North Texas associated to weapons brought to varsities or threats made.

Arlington parents stated their minds immediately thought of the worst after they were notified.

Rasheed stated Thursday was the commencement day for sixth grade college students at Duff Elementary.

While driving her son to high school in the morning, she had a talk with him about Uvalde and what to do if something ever happened at his college.

"If one thing happened, you’ve received to run anyplace that’s secure and hide," she advised her youngster.
