Apple has discontinued the iPod, 20 years after it was launched.
The US tech big stated its iconic music player has been changed by different units, making the iPod redundant.
Greg Joswiak, Apple's senior vice-president of worldwide marketing, mentioned: "Immediately, the spirit of iPod lives on.
"We have built-in an unimaginable music expertise throughout all of our products, from the iPhone to the Apple Watch to HomePod mini, and across Mac, iPad, and Apple TV.
"And Apple Music delivers industry-leading sound quality with assist for spatial audio - there is not any higher solution to take pleasure in, discover, and experience music."
In October 2001, Steve Jobs debuted the unique iPod and it was the primary MP3 player that would hold 1,000 songs and had a 10-hour battery life.
"With iPod, Apple has invented an entire new category of digital music participant that permits you to put your whole music collection in your pocket and take heed to it wherever you go," he said at the time.
"With iPod, listening to music will never be the identical once more."
Similar MP3 players launched by Microsoft and Sony didn't have the same success because the iPod.
Apple has released five versions of its music participant - the Classic, Contact, Shuffle, Mini and Nano.
The company has been slowly killing its iPod range lately, with mobile phone technology enabling prospects to take heed to music services on their telephones.
In 2014, the basic click on wheel model was discontinued, and the Shuffle and Nano had been killed off three years later.
The seventh-generation iPod contact was the one mannequin nonetheless on sale in the present day.
Without the iPod, there would never have been an iPhone or iPod, based on its inventor Tony Fadell.
