Afghanistan’s supreme chief and Taliban chief on Saturday ordered the nation’s women to wear the all-covering burqa in public - one of the harshest controls imposed on girls’s lives since the Taliban seized power.

“They should put on a chadori (head-to-toe burqa) as it is traditional and respectful,” stated a decree issued by Hibatullah Akhundzada that was released by Taliban authorities at a operate in Kabul.

“These women who are not too old or young must cowl their face, besides the eyes, as per sharia directives, with the intention to keep away from provocation when meeting men who are usually not mahram (grownup close male kin),” the decree stated.

It added that if girls had no essential work outdoors it was “better they keep at residence.”
