Is the ride like one of those Amazon’s robots in the wearhouse lol
God I hate the word "consumers"
What I don't get is how they went from this perfect expansion to the complete miss that was Avengers Campus.
Not worth going to Disney anymore.
Wizarding World > SWGE
SWGE has zero charm (looks like a dystopia), no shade, and is based on a trilogy the fans do no care about. Rise is a good attraction, but the land as a whole is disappointing. Oga’s is ridiculously tiny and most guests have to stand for an expensive drink, a $200+ piece of plastic, a boring simulator ride with little repeat value, and a glorified shopping strip mall. Color me unimpressed. I miss the longer river and the ranch that was there before.
The Wizarding World is, and always will be, leagues better than Galaxy's Edge.
I will never get over the sheer idiocy of not putting Darth Vader in your Star Wars theme park.
I have zero interest in ever going to these places but I enjoyed the video.
I think it's so funny that this video doesn't even touch on Disney's other most immersive movie-based area which is Pandora from Avatar; I believe this really speaks to the absolute forgetability of the movie and its lack of staying power as a cultural icon. You never see people walking around in "Avatar ears" at the parks. Regardless, Pandora was one of the most stunning areas I've seen in a theme park, and their ride Flight of Passage is one of, if not my favorite ride of all time. It's just disappointing Disney chose such a forgettable franchise as its source material.
Russia 🇷🇺 building a real theme park of doomsday in Ukraine 🇺🇦
So, should I got to this park or what?
What IP do you think is next to get the theme park treatment? Do you think Middle-Earth could work like this?
I am beyond happy that parks are realizing we don't want SCREENS.
It will be interesting to see how this ages with future generations. Sure the "experience economy" is new and great for me, but it won't be new and great for my kids. They won't know any different. Will they think these kinds of "experience" parks are cringe (or whatever term they make up to say the same thing)?
We already know
They key to getting both Galaxy’s Edge and Wizarding World was convincing the corporate bosses and shareholders that they couldn’t have obvious or any third-party branding, which meant that they’d have to potentially forego sponsorships and the $$$ that comes from that. Although in Disney’s case, they converted the branding into in-universe styles, it must have been a major fight (especially in the legal areas) to allow the logos to be modified.
Nothing says "individual experience" like wading through a crowd
This is a total puff piece.
**AUDIBLE needs regular app updates to keep access to "purchased" content.
If they added laser tag to this type of thing where you can team up and actually fight the empire it would be PERFECT. I’d literally go tomorrow.
This is super cool and I wish I could go… I live really close to Disney, just the wrong Disney… if they copy it in Florida I’ll go every year! Haha
Talk about the star wars hotel experience next
And the transformation of Disney into a film theme park like Universal is the reason I no longer visit Disney parks. I want to escape, not flooded with film ads in what is essentially a mall slogging crap made overseas.
The big fail with Galaxies Edge is that no one gives a shit about thr sequel trilogy and will even less in 5 years. All the merchandise in stores is OT or even some prequel stuff. They are going to have to have to re theme it at some point to OT standard. Maybe replace that awful first order transport abomination with Slave 1.
Working here would make me absolutely hate people
Not even a star wars buff, but Rise of the Resistance had my mouth agape the whole time
Man I hate amusement parks. Especially the big ones in Florida and Southern California, and especially Disney
It's a shame Disney has a lot of cool ideas, but over the past 20 years they consistently cut back a lot on plans for new experiences or can the whole thing. Shanghai disneyland and star wars land are the 2 things they went all in with in recent years.
If Galaxy’s edge is Disney’s “full might,” then Disney needs to hit the gym. Because Galaxy’s edge sucks. The falcon ride is bad, rise of the resistance is constantly broken and really not worth the wait or price for a second ride, oga’s cantina is tremendously overpriced; and I get douche chills every time I’m in there. The cast members are super awkward.
I recall something I read years ago that changed the way I looked at Theam/Amusement Parks. They're basically shopping malls you pay to get into.
Where are your sources Sam? Love your delivery, but I also would like to see some references.
People are stupid and easily Parted from their money, but Disney can make some fun rides despite their pathetic attempts at story
Wonderful. Well researched. Fascinating. Thanks for producing such great content!
