Florida fifth grader arrested, charged with threatening a mass capturing, police say

A fifth grade student in Florida was arrested over the weekend and charged with sending a text message threatening to hold out a mass taking pictures, authorities said.

In a statement Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Workplace mentioned it had discovered earlier that day of a "threatening text message" sent by a pupil at an elementary college.

It said its local faculty menace enforcement crew was immediately notified and began investigating. The 10-year-old boy was interviewed and charged later with "making a written risk to conduct a mass capturing," the sheriff's workplace said.

In video shared by authorities, the boy will be seen being led right into a police car.

“This pupil’s habits is sickening, particularly after the current tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno stated in an announcement, noting that the risk came simply days after the lethal college taking pictures at Robb Elementary College left 19 students and two lecturers lifeless.

“Right now will not be the time to behave like just a little delinquent. It’s not funny,” he stated. “This little one made a pretend menace, and now he’s experiencing real consequences.”

Marceno said his group “didn’t hesitate one second...NOT ONE SECOND,” to analyze the incident.

The remark got here as authorities in Uvalde face mounting criticism over their response to the May 24 college shooting after it came to mild that they waited roughly an hour for backup instead of instantly shifting in on the gunman.
