A fifth grade pupil in Florida was arrested over the weekend and charged with sending a text message threatening to hold out a mass capturing, authorities mentioned.

In a statement Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said it had realized earlier that day of a "threatening text message" sent by a scholar at an elementary faculty.

It stated its local faculty menace enforcement crew was immediately notified and started investigating. The 10-year-old boy was interviewed and charged later with "making a written menace to conduct a mass shooting," the sheriff's office said.

In video shared by authorities, the boy can be seen being led into a police car.

“This pupil’s habits is sickening, particularly after the current tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno mentioned in a statement, noting that the risk came simply days after the lethal school taking pictures at Robb Elementary Faculty left 19 students and two academics useless.

“Right now just isn't the time to behave like slightly delinquent. It’s not humorous,” he said. “This baby made a fake threat, and now he’s experiencing actual consequences.”
