The family of an 11-year-old woman who survived the massacre at Robb Elementary College in Uvalde, Texas, on Tuesday says the 4th grader played dead after the gunman entered her classroom.

Miah Cerrillo's aunt and godmother stated the 4th grader is struggling to cope and telling them what she witnessed throughout the shooting.

"Round midnight my sister-in-law referred to as me and she was just crying, like 'I believe it simply hit Miah. I believe the whole lot got here to actuality now,'" stated Blanca Rivera.

Rivera said Miah's instructor, Irma Garcia, was one of the two lecturers killed. Her mates and classmates were also targeted.

Rivera stated that's when Miah went into survival mode.

"Miah got some blood and put it on herself so she could fake she was dead," said Rivera. "It is too much for me to play that scene again and again, however that's what my sister-in-law mentioned is that she noticed her friend full of blood and she or he got blood and put it on herself."

Miah was injured but taken to the hospital and has been released.

"My brother mentioned she had bullet fragments in her again," stated Rivera.

Rivera, a mom of three, said the household is rallying round Miah to assist her recover physically, emotionally and spiritually.

"At this point, we just have to wish and ask God to help us move ahead by this case, I know it's traumatizing as it is," mentioned Rivera.
