“There’s numerous weapons that were fired. Handguns, long weapons, 223 rounds. If anyone doesn’t know what a 223 spherical will do, it’ll blow your leg proper off, it’ll blow your head right off your shoulders. These are the types of rounds that were fired final evening,” Reynolds said.
He stated there were “a pair totally different teams taking pictures at each other generally.”
“As we stand right here right now, we’re lucky we don’t have a useless cop or lifeless citizen or useless community members," Reynolds mentioned.
The investigation is ongoing and officers are still working the scene.
Two people were arrested stemming from the assaults on the deputies, police mentioned.
Those suspects had been identified as Ayesha McGee and Tahira McGee, NBC affiliate of WCBD of Charleston reported, citing experiences from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.
Ayesha McGee was charged with third-degree assault and battery and Tahira McGee with second-degree assault and battery and resisting arrest.
Officers stated extra arrests are anticipated.
Officials stated South Avenue from Nassau Avenue to Drake Avenue and America Avenue from Reid Street to Mary Road in the space will remain closed to course of the shooting scene.
